"Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place."

If he gets up, we'll all get up., originally uploaded by rubykhan.

In the last few days someone hit our truck, a tree fell and smashed our storage shed, Joe has hurt his back, and I have some sort of foot pain...

no bother though because while driving home one of our babysitters (the younger sis 13) I found that there is still joy in the world.
I am asking her what she got for Christmas and she is telling me and she starts to rattle off the DVD's she got and then she tells me of this movie her older brother got:

"um, it's really old but we love it. It's called The Breakfast Club."

I died a little bit. We are totally bonded now. I quoted the movie the entire way home and my coolness shown brightly like a crown for her.
She is loaning me her copy of Twilight next week.

title quote- The Breakfast Club 1985

I guess that's how everyone who went to Woodstock felt when they started hearing "their" music on "oldies" stations. Great needlepoint!

Hope both you and Joe are feeling better soon!

Ha! This is great. It is good to channel your inner 13 year old (Squee!). I just loaned the last two books to another mom at NBCC. But if you need New Moon, let me know. And I think my friend has already finished the last two, so I am sure I can get them back soon.

Happy reading -- not great "literature" but a lot of fun.

And again -- Squeee!

Love that cross stitch. Look, there I am in the center. When the movie came out, that is almost exactly what I looked like, minus the dandruff.

For years I could get away with reading YA books and watching teen movies because I was a HS teacher. I'm not anymore, but I still read them all and watch them when I can get them without being mocked.

I'm on book 3 of twilight.

It's really old?

I just died a little.

But that's to be expected since I'm so "old".

Oh man, I'm sorry about the truck and your shed and the back / foot pain. Life always seems to dish out the crap in multiple doses.

That's a great story, otherwise. The Breakfast Club is timeless.

And that cross stitch is badass.

Hug and kiss!

Ha, Yes the the Breakfast Club. I had my daughters watch it this yr (they're 10, 15 and 17) and they all loved it. We've seen it several times this year already. perfect.

I found your blog via DesignMom this morning though the Thank You note post. I remember my mom having me do this as well, and just yesterday I texted a reminder from my cell to my work email to "send thank yous to gma and gpa" so I would be right on it today. I write them too, my personal pet peeve is emailed, digital Christmas "cards" so I can't imagine sending a digital thank you.

ANd then, to top it off, I see your last name is Sharp and my maiden name is Sharp. SO...whatever that means. its cool. love your blog.
