Pecha Kucha Columbus, Ohio 2/10/11

I am getting a bit nervous about my Pecha Kucha presentation. I turn the slides in today and will practice talking to the kiddos all weekend. I will line them up on the sofa and ask them to tell me the truth about how mommy talks. They will probably laugh and ask lots of questions. I hope my voice stays strong.
I am excited to tell some stories and I hope to inspire someone to walk out into the cold dark night and feel some electricity. To feel some sort of pressing desire to make or create. I would love to be the spark for someone else. As much as I wanna be an artist I know I have always wanted to be a muse too.
I am talking about writing and being a writer and an artist.
I am talking about all the things that that I love.  Will you come?

{I am glad to know that my adorable man will be in the audience. I will imagine he is the only one there and talk right to him. Do you also have tips for public speaking like that? Focusing on one person? Naked audience?}

Sun lights up the daytime/you light up my life

The above photo is kinda boring until you know it is my handsome husband being interviewed for a television special! Woot! Joe is showing the news how we make wooden toys. Joe is vastly different from me and does not relish in the lights and fuss. He was nervous, but I know he did a great job on the taped segment! I go live with them tomorrow morning. You know I will be pulling out the big guns. (hot rollers,MAC paint, Push-up bra, and a little charm)
It is a crazy day!
:)
and one more thing. I heard this song and my neck nearly snapped off as it flash panned me right back to Logan, Ohio and I sat with my head in my hands for at least 13 minutes thinking back.
And it was not so bad to think back.
Not so bad.

Rebels been rebels/Since I don't know when

I've been a "dirty stop out" this week. That is a little term of affection Joe gives me when I neglect the family and go out on the town.I think it's British. I have been out and about more than usual though. I went to my local pub and met up with some cool bloggers. I loved it. It was great to meet writers that I have read and other new folks. I think we will be doing this again. We were loud and animated and I drank four beers like water when thirsty.
The bartender asked me if we were all long lost friends getting together- I laughed- it shows you how women can meet and just be. (loud, fun, and connecting...)

They were all
wicked cool.

Then I went to the opening of a cool new nightclub. I was sent as a blogger to cover it. How cool is that? The private grand opening of Martini Park was awesome. My friend Pepper Paints was there too. We are so lucky that we have Dawn in our life who assigns us cool jobs like this! Pepper Paints has cool pics on her site from the night. She is one of those big camera gals. I am so jealous!

The place is upscale enough that you feel the desire to dress up, but accessible enough that yr not going to worry about the velvet rope. The food was wonderful and seriously the martinis were off the chain! I had a cucumber one! It was insane and I crave it nightly since. I think this bar will appeal the the 30+ crowd who have some disposable income and want to spend a good night out.The staff rocked and I felt to welcome and happy to be there. I loved it and will be back! It is going to be a hit!

The best part of the night was watching my friend Kate swig martinis. She had a wee baby girl about four months ago and has not been out much in the nightlife. She was loving it! I was watching her closely and monitoring the consumption! She had to go home and whip out the boob ya know! She was a good girl and we had a great time. We are already planning a night out when the baby is bit older and we can stay out for more than 1.5 hours! LOL!

i will show you you're so much better than you know

Granny is getting a bag full of flowers and I am clutching one of my first paychecks for freelance writing and not even my sunburn can get me grumpy right now. I woke up a bit "mardy" as Joe says and it took the three boys all morning to scrape it off me. Why am I like this? Anyhoo, I feel better and am super delighted with my packaging of my mobiles for comfest.I think they look like lollipops right? I am going to put them in a candy jar to sell them...Cute??? I hope there is sunshine on yr face today. xo

This is what i feel like today.

I got a crazy teacher/he wears dark glasses

Off to audition for the Arts Festival poetry reading! I have major butterflies. Funny thing is I am a MAJOR extrovert...but am anxiety ridden today. My friend made me think about something today. I have been out of the work force since August and have not been public speaking...so I am just out of groove now. It is nothing I can't snap back into I hope. Right?
Am going to sit in the sun for a bit just now.
It is brighter outside than it has been for weeks-brimming with possibility.
I can already feel the light attaching itself to my face

Can't you feel the weight of my stare

My Joe has always made blocks for the boys and now I have convinced him to make some for me to sell to folks who love wooden blocks as much as we do.... I am super excited to help him make some and learn a bit about woodworking. I mean, I am married to a master carpenter- I should know a few things! We are researching non toxic paints and finishes and will sell them this summer at some local festivals I am doing and on Etsy eventually. I have been restoring furniture and working on a million projects at nap time recently. My house is a tip and I have worn the same shirt for two days, but I am so juiced with creativity. I just had to photograph this little chair today. It has a charm to it- old and metal and once loved.
