The Pioneer Woman Cooks – Food From My Frontier

I was so delighted to have Ree send me a copy of her new + amazing cookbook a couple weeks back!
She signed it for me!!! Swoon!
{feeling pretty darn special too- I kinda ripped open the package like a Christmas gift}

I love Ree + and am always so excited by her projects and passions.
She is the real deal guys.
The book.

OK. I love this page OH SO MUCH!

Also. The photography {by Ree!} is gorgeous and the step by step method of her cookbooks means the world to me. I like knowing what is GOING ON when I cook.
You?
And.
I always wanna move to her ranch.
Right? How lovely.

The recipes are true to Ree. I am salivating all over the place. It's the kind of food that you want to eat. It's the kind of food that makes you feel special when someone cooks it for you.
It is my Joe's favorite. It's family food. It's party food. It's damn good.
I know when I want to spoil Joe that I just take my fingers over to the computer and type in Ree's address or go to her books!!!!

And REE wants you to have your own AUTOGRAPHED copy!
YES!
YES!
FIVE lucky winners!
Just leave a comment + tell me what your favorite PW recipe is from The Pioneer Woman!

Contest will close Friday, March 16, 2012 midnight EST.
I’ll pick 5 random winners.  One entry per person!
Good luck. xo

I can't even begin to pick a favorite!!! My brother recently stopped by my house and picked up her first book that I have and decided to make the meatloaf. He said it was amazing. I think that's the best part of her book, is that anyone can cook from it and she makes people want to cook!!! Even my 28 year old brother :)

I used to follow the Pioneer Woman too, but now not so much. With every success story there's an equally compelling back story and oftentimes people get so caught up in the celebrity aspect they fail to check the cold hard facts.

I did some research on Ree Drummond and as it turns out, she's not exactly the "little ol' ranch wife" we've been led to believe. Although she has blogged about mounds of laundry, homeschooling 4 kids, taking photos, scripting her own television show, writing books and blogging, in reality she does very little, if any, of this. Seems she has an entire staff of hard-working paid employees who handle all those pesky chores, ghost writers for the blog, tutors for the homeschooling, housekeepers and the like.

Ree is anything but a Laura Ingalls Wilder "little ol' ranch wife." According to The Marlboro Woman website, the recipes she posts on her site apparently have been lifted from church and community cookbooks. The MW even has photos of cookbooks that have identical recipes to the ones the Pioneer Woman posts on her site. Rarely does Ree attribute her sources.

There's also a parody site, Pie Near Woman, that shows how narcissistic the Pioneer Woman really is. Ree Drummond has misrepresented herself to millions. Sad when you consider all the people who have spent their hard-earned money on her books.
