So come dance this silence down through the morning

Finn complains that I am weird.
The thing is -he has no idea how weird I really am.
He has only known me under 6 years. We danced today in the mess of this house. We danced right over laundry that has likely been washed twice and now is on the floor of the living room. We danced to the Counting Crows and I tried to tell him how when I hear Mr. Jones that my heart just jumps right out of my body and flies down Rt. 33 and spins over Athens, Ohio and never shatters.

I tell him that 1993 was this wild year and he laughs at me with his teeth that are growing in so big. He laughs at me and I just spin Blaise faster around and around and we stomp all over boxer briefs and at least for a little bit the day is not stressful.

Joe is trying to teach me to let go a bit more lately and just enjoy life.
because sometimes things really are outside of our control
Because sometimes things don't matter as much as we think they do
It's beyond my control sometimes.
The mess. The money. The worry.

But these moments.
These little moments I need to grab them.
I need to grab them and clap my hands wildly as the day unfolds.

I moved to Dayton in 1994. 93-94 WAS wild. I listened to that cd the whole time (along with the Indigo Girls' Swamp Ophelia and Cowboy Junkies' Black-Eyed Man.) It's in my car right now. :)

mr. jones was my Athens Ohio theme song as well! especially since my main bar hookup for many months was in fact - a mr. jones!

93 was a great year fir the thought of the classic amy turn moves gracing your livingroom.

If I close my eyes I can still smell and feel 1993...and Mr. Jones was playing in my car...ahhhhhh.

But I wouldn't trade today for any of those days!

Thank you Amy for reminding me!

Wow. This was great. Just wow.

It's like you took the words I have been needing to say right out of my mouth.

Thank you!

This is awesome. Something I think we could all learn.

Dancing through twice-washed laundry is way better than dancing through laundry twice-worn, so there's that.

I love that image. Wasn't that a line from The Office?

When I was still working and commuting with the kids, I started playing the radio in the car with the windows down. No CDs or ipods - just old school channel surfing. I looked for anything that I could sing along with - preferably Donna Summer or Barry White. And I'd feel like a teenager again. With a car full of children of course...but I could have been babysitting.

SO TRUE! Tomorrow I promise to not see the mess and dance with the kids.
Thanks for the reminder!
