Concerts I wish I could have attended #2

All around me would be a sea of Miami Vice blazers in pastel pretty and hair so bi-leved and we would sing out with him- this true sad song.

Later when I was eighteen at Ohio University and I thought the Indigo Girls wrote the song until some older boy I met at a kegger gave me a talk about Dire Straits. It was such a scene from an indie movie that has yet to be made. Back porch tutorial on British music. And later I married a man who sings the song just like Mark Knopfler {how he sings the words "heart attack" slays me} I am in my kitchen two nights ago and we all listen to Dire Straits and even the baby sways to the sad lovely song.
But wouldn't that have been a fine concert?

I don't remember how I heard it, but once I heard the Dire Straits version, I could never go back to the Indigo Girls one. Even bought the album just for that song. It makes me melt. My husband makes fun of me, but I don't care. I really like them.

Ha, I think about this idea often. I would have loved to have seen the following bands in small (up and coming) venues:

1. Red Hot Chilli Peppers
2. The White Stripes
3. Nirvana

I'm sure I could think of more...

That is in my top ten of favorite songs. My husband and I have a running argument about Dire Straits' best song. He says it's Sultans of Swing. He's delusional. I wouldn't lose respect for him over Tunnel of Love...but he'd still be wrong.

Though I must admit that all of my Dire Straits expertise comes from the Money for Nothing CD we own. I didn't even know that the Indigo Girls did a cover. Basically, if it's not on a Greatest Hits/Best of/Gold album, I probably haven't heard it.
