and turn the radio loud/ i'm too alone to be proud

This blog has never been about anything. It has no spine. It wanders. It flirts with all sorts of subjects.
It's a slut. It also has the worst blog name that ever lived.  {doobleh-vay} No one can spell it or find it.
I am not sure how many people actually read it.  I get more spam comments than real ones lately.
I know people want tight bites of information. They want pretty and EPIC startling things to shake them from stools and rise them off benches and make work days feel so much more productive.
They want design and decor and desire. Mid century legs and Eco friendly tube tops and all the things in the world that you can bookmark and forget about by Tuesday.

I just have stories.
I have these little stories inside of me.
I have 13 ways of kissing history.
I have the dead twin of David Sedaris inside my leg.
I have messes and motives and needs for you.
I have Bon Jovi bourgeois heartbeat memories.
I have trees in my ears.
I have stars inside of my mouth.
I am going to start a new site soon and I want to post more creative nonfiction on it.
I want it to be what I always wanted this blog to be.
What could I name it?
It needs a name.
halp!

1. Is Amy Turn Sharp your real name?

Ah, nevermind. It doesn't matter.

2. AMy Turn Sharp is the best name ever.

3. Use your name. It's memorable.

I know you are ready for a change, but the French in me loved doobleh-vay. Which is hard to spell and find. With your creativity, the right word(s) will come and feel right to you.

I like doobleh-vay...and I can pronounce it. Lots of different ideas are good. Maybe keep the name and add a thoughtful tagline? Or just keep the name!

First visit to your blog and I like it!

Best,
Coco

Oh, honey. I KNOW you're not asking me this question. Your blog name is second to none, other than mine.

This weblog is being featured on Five Star Friday!
http://www.schmutzie.com/fivestarfriday/2011/1/7/five-star-fridays-133rd-edition-is-brought-to-you-by-rainer.html

Also, as far as blog names go, you could call it And The Baby Rolled Over, as in your blog is the baby, unless that's terrible. I also vote for just Amy Turn Sharp.

I have always loved your blog for ALL the reasons you list. It was one of the first I followed and has always been one of my favorites. I hope it doesn't disappear...

But sometimes change is necessary I guess - so a new name can be a good thing. I find names horribly difficult. It was almost impossible to name my own blog and I think I picked the name I did because I e-mailed three to a friend and asked her which one she liked best.

I'm better at appreciating cleverness in others. I always liked "doobleh-vay". Another blog name that I thought was brilliant was "Baking with Plath."

Look back at what you've been writing recently. I have a feeling your new name is in there somewhere... If not I'll send you the rejects from my old list and you can take your pick.

Amy, I love you just the way you are! But if a change is in your heart then I'm sure it will be fabulous, everything you do is!

Maybe call it "Sarah Palin's Alaska" or "The New i-Phone" I bet you would get a lot of traffic if you called it that.

But yes. Just call it "Turn Sharp"

Darling, I think you should do spoken word. I would love to hear such things as you wrote from your mouth. Your voice booms, demands to be heard, it's beautiful.

Whatever you choose to do with your blog will be wonderful as long as it's what YOU want.

xo!

First, I love doobleh-vay.

Second, if you are really asking for suggestions...I vote for Turn Sharp or Heartbeat Memories or Messes, Motives, & Needs or ... ?

Third, just keep us in the loop so we can update our readers!!!

ps: Life wanders and flirts with all sorts of subjects - I love the real. I don't want tight bites of info. I want deep, seeping pools of real. Don't change a thing would be my first and loudest vote. : )

Such a big fan of your blog and your words. I can feel you on needing to revamp an online space. I just renamed my blog & am in the midst of making everything more me. Good luck to you, I'll be sure to stick around for more =)

Whatever. Double-vay is the best name ever. I remember thinking I'd wished I'd thought of that myself. Judging by the 13 comments ahead of mine,
I think you have nothing to worry about.

I love Panic Room's suggestion of "Turn Sharp" as it is your name AND it can mean literally a sharp turn. And it kind of sounds British.

You're divine in any form.

I love doobleh-vay...the name and the blog.

I love reading your stories and I know I am not the only one. Any name will be perfect. What do you dream of?

birdmaiden said...

i read it. but then i thought doobleh-vay was clever and charming. so what do i know? i guess i'll have to turn sharp{er}
maybe that means i am sheep. i'll follow wherever you go. xo

I came to your blog solely because I was charmed by its name. And yet, if doobleh-vay doesn't work because it's hard to spell, why not "W" which would be simpler and yet maintain the continuity. . . ?

speaking as your bff of 26ish years...call it whatever you want, my dear. just don't call it off! xoxo meesh

When I first heard you at BlogHer, I didn't realize Amy Turn Sharp was your name. I thought it was like Amy, turn sharp, as in, Amy make a change.. so I think using that is totally cool. I'd love to do the same but I'm an Amy Jones. No way I'm ever getting that domain..

Rachel (Hounds in the Kitchen) said...

I'm with the others - your name is awesome - Turn Sharp, Sharp Turn, Sharply Turning, Turning Sharply, Turning Sharp, Sharp Turn Amy, etc.
