cribs and gives

It's like I so forgot how to get my kid out of a crib.
I couldn't get Finn into one and now I can't get Blaise out of one.
Any suggestions?

does the crib convert? mia didn't even blink when we changed the crib to a toddler bed. and then to a daybed.....b/c the "bed" is essentially the same...just small changes over time???

my philosophy has been not to push it. With my older son we just put up a twin bed in his room along with the crib and I let him tell me when he was ready to sleep in it. As long as they're not trying to climb out of it I don't see the rush. My older son was about 3 1/2 when he moved into a bed and my younger son is still happily sleeping in his and he just turned 3.

eventually he won't be able to fit in it anymore....that is no consolation, I know. :) Seriously, my friend's son didn't switch to a big boy bed until his 3rd birthday.

I can't find my blog said...

Have you tried letting him choose his own sheets? Spiderman, Transformers, something like that should entice him to go to a big boy bed, and they can usually be found pretty cheap if you look around before you give him the choices (according to what you're willing to pay.)

Will Condon's brother here. Funny thing, I found a lot of books with the key word big boy bed when doing a search for a patron at my library today. These were all fiction books written with a 3-5 year old child in mind. You should ask for similar books at your library. There might also be something in a non-fiction parenting book.

I remember when I was very young one of the most appealing things about having an adult size bed was that I could lie down on it either vertically or horizontally.

unless you have to, why push it? if he's happy in there... then i say leave it for now and wait till he's older. both my kids were 3 when they moved from crib to bed... neither had problems, but i think they may have if they were younger. just my 2 cents. :)
