In 1978 I was about the same age as Finn is now. I know Piaget talks about memories and recreating them from fragments you hear and photos you see, but I know I can recall opening the kitchen door and gazing out in wonder at the mountains of snow all around. I recall the 1978 Ohio Blizzard. I know I can remember my father and his blue jacket and a shovel. I can remember the feeling of being warm inside and looking out picture windows. I wonder what will roll round Finn's mind 30 years from now?

I don't know if I really remember the 78' blizzard - but my mind is now pleasently racing w/ the old pics i've seen from it - pics w/ my brother, dad and I atop a 10'mound of shoveled snow. Thanks for the flashback at!!!
I remember all my blizzards...and Finn will too.
When the 78 blizzard started, K drove about half an hour so that he could be snowed in my dorm.
I remember that blizzard well... Says how old I am! (HAH!!!) I remember carrying in wood and coal, like it was going out of style... Well, helping my mom. I remember our neighbor plowing our driveway and basically the whole road, so my dad could still get to work somehow. I remember cookies, warm wood stoves, thawing out mittens and socks/boots... Life was- and is- GOOD!!!
memories like these are such a gift.
the blizzards from the 70's remind me of my little sister's shaggy cougar boots...good memory, thanks for rewinding me that way!
I remember the snow being so high that my sibs and I tunneled our entire front yard. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and take B with me so we could play together on even ground.
I definitely remember 78. I lived right around the corner from where we are now, and someone had plowed a parking lot near our place. The snow on the sides of the lot were enormous. As cold as it was yesterday, we let the kids go out three different times. I'm sure they'll never forget this snow!
OMG, the kiddo is practically swimming in the white stuff in that photo! Wow.
That picture is just precious.. I remember a blizzard, and I want to say it was about that time were my family and I were stuck on the LIE expressway and we had to abandoned our car and walk an hour to a police station for protection .. I remember it like it was yesterday..
isn't this just an incredible snow? I'm watching it drip off the roof now, as the temp pushes past 32ยบ and wonder how to make it stay.
For the blizzard of '78, I lived in MA and I remember that both of our doors were drifted in--almost to the top. We had to remove the storm door from inside the house and dig our way out of the house with pots and pans. My dad was trapped at his job for 3 days and we heated the house with the kitchen oven (gas).
Oooh...I need a few more quarters for my wayback machine.
My dad shoveled all the snow in the yard up against the garage, so my brother and I could slide down it. We were the most popular kids on the block that week.
